What is Sound Healing?

Sound Healing (Klangheilung or Klangtherapie in German) is a holistic therapeutic practice that uses the powerful vibrations of traditional Sound Bowls to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Originating from Northern India, this healing modality utilizes the natural frequencies of instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and the human voice to restore harmony within the body and mind.

In traditional Indian medicine, sound has long been revered as a tool for spiritual awakening and energetic alignment. The ancient sages understood that everything in the universe —including the human body — vibrates at a specific frequency. When this natural frequency falls out of balance due to stress, trauma, or illness, dis-ease can occur. Sound Healing seeks to re-tune the body to its optimal state through resonance and frequency.

One of the most profound aspects of Sound Healing is its ability to activate the body’s innate self-healing capabilities. The strong, intentional vibrations penetrate deeply into cells and tissues, stimulating a process of energetic realignment and renewal.

Throughout the Sound Healing session, you are in a still and comfortable lying position, which makes sound healing a very accessible modality, even for people with limited mobility.

Sound Healing is especially beneficial for those seeking balance in a fast-paced, overstimulated world. Whether you are looking to relieve stress, (emotional) fatigue, physical discomfort, and pain, or simply looking to deepen your connection with yourself, this gentle yet powerful modality may offer just that.

To get a feel for Sound Healing in a group setting, you can join our Yin and Restorative Yoga classes, some of which we organize in Samsara and The Yoga Studio, or at our Yoga and Sound Healing retreats in Austria. If you prefer private or couple sessions, you can send us a message using the form below.

Stimulates the Body’s Natural Healing Mechanism

Through the noticeable vibrations, the flow of energy is directed to the parts in the body that are not in balance, thus stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities.
